Guards
Guards have strong defence capabilities and a low crop consumption which makes them useful in defending your city.
They also have very poor attack capabilities.
You can train the Guards in the barracks after they are researched in the Academy.

To increase the power of attack or defence of the Guards you have to increase the level of attack and defence in the academy.
